The Residential Colleges Office (RCO) is the administrative and faculty development center for UNCG’s three Residential Colleges (RCs): Ashby RC, Grogan RC, and Strong RC. Directed by Dr. Jennifer Stephens, the RCO provides opportunities for faculty and graduate students to develop and hone their teaching praxis through teaching appointments, Graduate Teaching Fellowships and faculty mentorships, workshops and brown bag luncheons on High-Impact Educational Practices (HIPs), teaching consultations, opportunities to observe HIPs in organic classroom environments, and Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) opportunities in general education and integrated and applied learning.
The Minerva Magazine is an annual publication focused on the research efforts of our students and faculty. The name of the magazine pays homage to the Roman goddess of wisdom, who has served as an unofficial mascot since 1893.
As applied and integrated living-learning communities, the Residential Colleges are spaces where faculty employ innovative pedagogies and instructional strategies in General Education.
In addition to learning communities like the Residential Colleges, UNCG offers students and faculty the opportunity to participate in a variety of High-Impact Educational Practices (HIPs).
The Graduate Teaching Fellow position is an opportunity for graduate students to explore, develop, and teach a course as part of the UNCG Residential Colleges General Education curriculum.
