CliftonStrengths, from Gallup, is based on the work of Don Clifton, and focuses on discovering the talents that excite and engage people with their work, each other, and their lives.

“What will happen when we think about what is right with people rather than fixating on what is wrong with them?” -Don Clifton

Don Clifton believed that the key to engagement was helping people discover the talents that come naturally to them. For many of us, 70% of what we do comes intuitively to us, while 30% of what we do requires significant focus. Clifton wondered if we could leverage our natural ways of seeing (or talents) to make 100% of what we do intuitive. That means, by aligning your teaching with your natural strengths and talents – you can improve your teaching and engage in fulfilling practice.

How does it work?

To begin:

  • After contacting the TIO, you will be emailed a link to the my.gallup portal and an access code.
  • Complete the CliftonStrengths assessment. It’s important to complete this in one sitting (about 25 mins) and to go with the answer that is your first instinct – don’t overthink it.
  • Once you complete the assessment, the TIO will contact you to set up a one-on-one coaching appointment.

During your coaching appointment:

  • Your certified Gallup Strengths Coach will help you unpack your unique set of CliftonStrengths and imagine what’s possible.
  • You will explore your own teaching philosophies and how to engage your CliftonStrengths in your teaching practice – from course design to delivery.

With CliftonStrengths you will learn:

“People are sharp and teams are well-rounded” – Don Clifton
