Generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) is making waves in all aspects of our lives. UNCG’s inaugural AI Institute in 2024 was a huge success. For summer 2025, we are ready to go bigger with a Generative AI Conference. Learn with and from your colleagues as we explore how the UNCG community has effectively integrated generative AI into learning and beyond. Join the campus conversation about the need for an emerging AI literacy and consider strategies for promoting student success in an AI-enabled world.

Hosted by the University Teaching and Learning Commons, this institute is made possible by the contributions of faculty and staff from around campus who are dedicated to the responsible incorporation of Generative Artificial Intelligence for the advancement of teaching, learning, and student success.

Who should attend?

The institute is free and open to all educators at UNCG regardless of rank, discipline, or prior experience using Generative AI tools. Administrators, faculty, staff, and GTAs wanting to know more about applications of Generative AI to support teaching and learning are all welcome to attend!

Why Attend?

Generative AI is a transformative force impacting the workforce, education, and our personal lives. As educators helping to prepare students for success at UNCG and beyond, it is essential that we have conversations and broaden our working knowledge of these tools to support our own work and to model how they can effectively and ethically be used by our students. This institute serves as a unique opportunity to come together as a campus community to engage in critical dialogues and information sharing so that all educators can feel empowered to leverage the capabilities of Generative AI in a responsible way.

We recognize that attending a day-long, in-person institute requires an investment of time, energy, and resources. The institute has been carefully designed to add as much value as possible for all participants. Attendees can expect to:

Schedule, Location, and Registration

Registration

Registration and attendance for this event is free and open to all UNCG administrators, faculty, staff, and Graduate Teaching Associates. Please complete the registration form by April 28 to attend the in-person institute so we can plan for space, refreshments (a light breakfast, lunch, and beverages will be served), and resources for our in-person attendees throughout the day. If you cannot attend the in-person institute, the registration form will also allow you to gain access to the Canvas course where we will share resources from the institute. The Canvas course will be made available one week before the institute, so stay tuned for an invitation closer to the event!

Virtual opportunities (Canvas): We understand that not everyone can attend in-person, so the registration form provides UNCG instructors with the option to access the Canvas course where recordings from select sessions and supplemental resources from the institute will be made available.

In-person institute: Attending the institute in-person on May 12 will provide instructors with hands-on experience with AI tools, a space to engage in discussions around effective and ethical use of Generative AI in teaching and learning, and an opportunity to network and collaborate with colleagues. Attendees will automatically be enrolled in a Canvas course that will contain supplemental resources about Generative AI.
