Did you know that reading order matters when designing and displaying content? Reading order refers to the order in which users read your content. Logical reading order means that content is read and/or displayed top to bottom, and then left to right. When students use screen readers and other assistive technology, these tools will read top to bottom, and then left to right. If you’ve structured your content in a way that is not logical, it will be extremely confusing to students who use assistive technology tools. Reading order affects all content but is especially important for tables and slide presentations. Watch this Logical Reading Order video created by the Office of Civils Rights to learn more about how logical reading order works.
