Course Accessibility
All campus courses must meet basic accessibility guidelines by spring 2026. The tools offer initial steps to addressing the most common digital accessibility concerns in your course. *Please note, this page is updated regularly as new resources become available. Check back often for the latest updates and tools available to campus.
Universal Design for Learning
Backed by research in the neuroscience of learning, the UDL Guidelines, published by CAST.org, operationalizes the principles of UDL and “offer[s] a set of concrete suggestions that can be applied to any discipline or domain to ensure that all learners can access and participate in meaningful, challenging learning opportunities.”
UNCG Syllabus Resources
The UTLC helped develop a campus sample syllabus template. The template is updated before each term to ensure that policies and processes align with campus language regarding accessibility, Title IX, etc.
Teaching Guides
The UTLC has developed Teaching Guides for trending strategies and topics in higher education, such as Generative AI, Team-Based Learning, High Impact Practices, Student Engagement, and more.
UTLC Teaching TIps
The UTLC Newsletter is a weekly publication aimed at providing faculty development resources and fostering a culture of teaching excellence at UNCG. Each issue contains teaching tips that can immediately be implemented in the learning environment along with upcoming events and opportunities related to teaching and learning.
Teaching Effectiveness
The Teaching Effectiveness Policy outlines minimum campus requirements for evaluating teaching practice at UNCG. The policy addresses three areas: course evaluations, peer review, and self-reflection. The policy intersects with the Policy and Regulation on Faculty Workload and requires professional development on teaching be included in faculty work plans. The UTLC will be providing campus workshops and support as unit-level processes are developed.
Ready to Teach
Ready to Teach is an instructional suite of 30-minute modules designed to help instructors navigate the stages of online course development and teaching. Whether revamping a course you teach in a traditional classroom, starting from scratch, or just curious about the process, these modules will help instructors prepare to deliver the highest quality online learning.

Quality Matters (QM) is a peer review process designed to certify the quality of online and blended courses. UNCG Offers two Quality Matters (QM) courses throughout the year at no cost to faculty and staff.

Department Head/Chair/Director
The UTLC offers resources and support specifically designed for Department Heads/Chairs/Directors and School Directors. These resources include information on major campus initiatives, national trends in higher education, leadership materials, and more.
Teaching Effectiveness Tools
The UNCG Teaching Effectiveness Policy requires three inputs for measuring teaching effectiveness: course evaluations, peer review, and self-evaluations. Individual academic units will develop procedures for meeting these minimum requirements. The UTLC has gathered resources to support unit-level process development, including frameworks, scholarship, and ongoing expert perspectives on the evaluation of teaching and learning.
Jane D. Harris SoTL Library
The Jane D. Harris Scholarship of Teaching & Learning (SOTL) Library provides campus with evidence-based resources for teaching and learning practice. Faculty and staff can check-out resources for use.
Scholarship of TEaching and Learning
The Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) uses discovery, reflection, and evidence-based methods to research effective teaching and student learning. The resources highlight different research methods and provide a spectrum of choices for designing and implementing SoTL projects.
LinkedIn Learning
LinkedIn Learning is an online educational platform that provides access to over 16,000 videos and 5,000 courses on various topics created by experts in the field. UNCG instructors, staff, and students can review the videos and complete courses as part of UNCG courses or for professional development. Course completion can be documented on your personal LinkedIn profile. The UTLC has created a series of LinkedIn Learning playlists aimed at teaching and learning for UNCG instructors. Please note that LinkedIn Learning requires UNCG credentials.
Vector SolutionS
The UTLC is proud to collaborate with Vector Solutions to provide faculty and staff with flexible, on-demand learning opportunities. These online, research-based workshops cover a range of essential topics, including search committee practices and accessibility strategies. Designed to fit busy schedules, most workshops take approximately two hours to complete. Upon completion, participants receive a certificate of recognition from the Office of the Provost.
Magna Publication
Magna Publications offers a series of 20-minute and 40-minute workshops on teaching and learning topics from national experts in teaching and learning.
In this Canvas site, the UTLC has secured campus access to over 20 trainings on topics such as teaching effectiveness, generative AI, student engagement, course design, and much more.
